Pet System
Hello, Royale Online family!
You’re about to gain a companion that grows stronger alongside you and changes the way it looks as it grows. Here’s a good look at how the pet system works.
Work on the pet system is moving at full speed, and we’re glad to say it will be with you soon. This post is shared as early information only.
Getting Started
It all begins with an egg. To get a Reaper Egg, for example, you need to bring down the Reaper boss.
| 1 | Open the egg and the seal of that pet comes out of it. |
| 2 | The seal is the pet. You summon your companion with it and send it back with it. |
| 3 | Your pet arrives at the lowest tier. Where it goes from there is entirely up to you. |
An unopened egg only keeps for 7 days in your inventory.
Levels and EXP
Your pet earns experience while it is out with you and you are hunting monsters. That experience fills its EXP bar.
A full EXP bar on its own is not enough to level up, though. There is a second bar: Item EXP. You fill it by feeding your pet items you pick up while hunting or buy from the market.
Your pet levels up only when both bars are full.
Raising Tiers
Every pet is born at Tier 1, Level 1.
Each tier carries a level ceiling. A Tier 1 pet can be raised to Level 30; to go any further you have to raise its tier. Tier also decides how many skills your pet can learn and which stage it reaches.
| Tier | Max level | Skill slots | Stage |
| 1 | 30 | — | Baby |
| 2 | 40 | 1 | |
| 3 | 50 | 1 | Young |
| 4 | 60 | 2 | |
| 5 | 70 | 2 | Adult |
| 6 | 80 | 3 | |
| 7 | 90 | 3 | |
| 8 | 99 | 4 | Bestial |
To raise a tier you sacrifice 2 pets of the same tier. The species of the sacrificed pets does not matter; only their tier has to match your main pet’s.
Here is how one upgrade looks:
| Main pet | Tier 2 Reaper | The pet being raised |
| Sacrificed | Tier 2 Monkey | Consumed |
| Sacrificed | Tier 2 Spider | Consumed |
| Result | Tier 3 Reaper | Can now be raised to Level 50 |
Stages and Looks
A stage is how your pet looks, and it follows straight from its tier. As the tier climbs, your companion grows, its gear changes and it takes on an entirely new model.
Not every pet reaches Tier 8, of course. A Monkey tops out at Tier 3, so Young is as far as it gets.
Tier upgrades that change the stage also call for a pet growth book. There are three of them:
| Tier | Stage change | Book required |
| 2 → 3 | Baby → Young | Pet Growth Book: Young |
| 4 → 5 | Young → Adult | Pet Growth Book: Adult |
| 7 → 8 | Adult → Bestial | Pet Growth Book: Bestial |
Passive Traits
Every pet is born with passive traits. They belong to the species and never change over your pet’s life — but they do grow stronger as the pet ages.
Each species carries two passive traits.
| Pet | Passive 1 | Passive 2 | Up to |
| Monkey | Attack Speed | Critical Chance | Young |
| Reaper | HP Steal | Attack | Adult |
We will introduce the remaining pets and their traits in upcoming announcements.
No Two Alike
Your pet’s HP, defence and attack (its base stats) grow by chance with every level. That is why two pets of the same species rarely turn out the same: one leans towards defence, another towards attack, a third lands somewhere in between.
You can tell which way yours leans by reading its stats once it hatches. If you are not happy with it, a Crystal of Fate rolls those stats again.
Passive traits work the same way. Each species has two of them, and one can come out clearly stronger than the other — or the two can land evenly. In short, every pet has a character of its own.
A Monkey, for instance, carries Attack Speed and Critical Chance. In some monkeys Attack Speed leads, in others Critical Chance does, and in some the two sit level.
If you would rather have a different balance, a Crystal of Instinct rolls the passives again.
Pet Skills
You can teach your pet up to 4 skills. Skill slots open as the tier rises; the table above shows how many each tier unlocks. Pets with a lower maximum tier naturally end up with fewer skills.
Pet skills work much like your own: they have skill books too. The first time you read a book to your pet, it learns that skill for certain. To improve the skill, read the same book to it again.
These are the skills you can teach your pet:
| Skill | What it does |
| Fury | Magic and melee attack |
| Agility | Skill and casting speed |
| Penetration | Piercing hit chance |
| Spirit Step | Absorbs incoming damage with SP |
| Protection | Melee block chance |
| Regeneration | HP recovery chance |
| Hunting | Damage dealt to monsters |
| Long Range | An archer’s bow range |
| Insight | The EXP you earn |
| Reflection | Reflects melee damage |
| Life Drain | Absorbs damage as HP |
| Warrior Resistance | Resistance to Warrior attacks |
| Ninja Resistance | Resistance to Ninja attacks |
| Sura Resistance | Resistance to Sura attacks |
| Shaman Resistance | Resistance to Shaman attacks |
If you want to drop a skill, a Lesser Cleansing Scroll erases only the one you pick and a Greater Cleansing Scroll erases them all. The slot is left open for a new skill.
Care and Lifespan
The most important rule of the pet system is that looking after your companion is on you. A pet is a responsibility as much as it is a reward.
Your pet has a lifespan, and much like your horse it needs feeding. You feed it with a Pet Treat, which comes out of the Pet Chest dropped by every boss.
If your pet has died, a Pet Treat will bring it back. But its age resets to zero. That is exactly why keeping an eye on it matters.
And why does age matter so much? Because an older pet grows stronger. Every day it spends in your inventory increases the growth it gains at each level, both in its base stats and in its species trait.
A Pet Carrier lets you carry and trade your pet. Inside the carrier its age and lifespan stop, so it is made for long breaks from the game and for selling.

While your companions were taking shape, our art team produced a few pieces we wanted to share with you.
